PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a splittable conjugate staple fiber for nonwoven fabric, splittable by stirring with air, effective for preventing the formation of fiber lumps by the static charge generated by the friction between fiber and fiber or fiber and machine especially in a process for producing a dry-type nonwoven fabric without applying a particular treating agent to the surface of the fiber and giving a high-quality nonwoven fabric having excellent uniformity, low air permeability, soft texture and excellent mechanical properties, and provide a staple fiber for nonwoven fabric and a nonwoven fabric containing the staple fiber.;SOLUTION: The splittable conjugate fiber is composed of two components comprising a polyester polymer A and a polyamide polymer B. A plurality of segments of one of the polymers are arranged around the other polymer in contacting state on the cross-section of a single fiber cut perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the fiber, the splitting ratio by air stirring is ≥65%, the fiber length is 1.0-30 mm and the single fiber fineness is 0.5-20 dtex.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
