TRANSFORMED POLYPLAID YEAR CELL, METHOD FOR PREPARING A POLYPLAID YEAR CELL AND METHOD FOR REDUCED PRODUCTION OF GLYCEROL SUBPRODUCT. It is a polyploid transformed yeast cell comprising a deleted or disrupted GDH1 gene encoding a NADPH-dependent glutamate dehydrogenase, wherein said polyploid yeast cell shows increased ethanol production and reduced glycerol production when compared with a control polyploid yeast cell.
