Methods of supressing UV light-induced skin carcinogenesis

Disclosed is a method of suppressing UV light-induced skin carcinogenesis in a non-human patient, comprising the step of administering to such a patient who has been exposed to UV light, a therapeutically effective amount of a sulforaphane or a sulforaphane analog, in which the sulforaphane or the sulforaphane analog is administered topically at a dose of 0.3 µmol/100µl to 1 µmol/100µl. Also disclosed is the use of sulforaphane or a sulforaphane analog for the manufacture of a medicament for preventing UV light-induced skin carcinogenesis, wherein the medicament is formulated for topical administration at a dose of 0.3 µmol/100µl to 1 µmol/100µl.
