Disclosed is a method for controlling aquatic weeds, which comprises applying a herbicidally effective amount of the inhibitor of p-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD) topramezone or an agriculturally acceptable salt, thereof to aquatic 5 weeds selected from the genus of hydrilla and/or their aqueous habitat containing seeds or other propagating organs of said aquatic weeds.
