The invention relates to a handheld jigsaw having a lifting rod (30) and a saw blade chuck device (38) for the detachable holding of a saw blade (36), said device being attached at the lower end of said rod, characterized in that the lifting rod (30) is configured as a pipe, particularly a smooth pipe, which in the interior accommodates the chuck device (38) at the free end thereof, said device being supported in a displaceable manner by at least one, particularly two, particularly wedge-shaped clamping jaws (42, 44) carrying an inclined surface and being axially displaceable from the outside in the longitudinal direction on a counter-inclined surface (64) that is likewise longitudinally arranged in a pipe in a fixable manner, wherein an axially parallel surface (60) of the clamping jaw serves as the clamping surface for the support on a flat side of the saw blade, particularly the clamping shaft thereof.
