The device has a high lift device (2) and spoiler devices (3, 4), where the high lift device is movably fastened at a wing unit (1) and is controlled by an onboard computer. The spoiler devices are movably fastened at the wing unit and/or at the high lift device. The spoiler devices are concealed in a recess and are designed such that size of gap between the wing unit and the high lift device is adjusted. An independent claim is also included for a method for adjusting lift characteristics of an airplane.
