PURPOSE: A rotary union with a selectively controlled seal is provided to control the coupling of a seal depending on the properties of transferred media using a machine designer or a machine control program. ;CONSTITUTION: A rotary union(100) with a selectively controlled seal comprises a housing(106), a non-rotated seal member(104). The housing comprises a bore(128) and a control chamber. The bore is connected to a media channel opening. The control chamber is arranged around the bore. The non-rotated seal member is movably arranged inside the bore of the housing and comprises a media channel(112) connected to the bore of the housing.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2011
