PURPOSE: A video display apparatus and an operation method thereof are provided to easily grasp the broadcasting signal of a channel in which subtitle data is included. ;CONSTITUTION: A tuner receives a broadcasting signal(S510). A controller creates a plurality of thumbnail images on the basis of the broadcasting signal(S520). The controller displays a thumbnail image corresponding to a channel in which subtitle data is included on a display(S530). Only analog subtitle data can be included in bit stream which is used in a video display apparatus. Only digital subtitle data can be included in the bit stream. The analog subtitle data and the digital subtitle data can be altogether included in the bit stream.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2011
