A fluid bearing structure having a bearing recess of uniform depth and a method of forming a bearing recess in a fluid bearing structure. The pipe portion is inserted into the through hole formed in the bearing base to form a fluid ejection port for ejecting the fluid between the opposing bearing surfaces. Bearing recesses are formed around the fluid outlet. The bearing base and the pipe part are made of different materials. A coating layer is formed on the bearing base and the pipe part by anodizing. The thickness of the coating layer of the bearing base is different from the thickness of the coating layer of the pipe part because the base member and the pipe part are made of different materials. The material in which the coating layer grows rapidly is selected for the bearing base and the material in which the coating layer grows slowly is selected for the pipe section.
