PURPOSE: An apparatus for driving a video display device and a driving method thereof are provided to improve the improvement efficiency of image sharpness by establishing the improvement degree of image sharpness according to the properties of each display image.;CONSTITUTION: A display panel(2) includes a plurality of pixels and displays an image. A panel driver drives pixels which are included in the display panel. An image data conversion part(10) detects a smooth area, an edge area, and a detail area with at least a frame unit. The image data conversion part differently applies and changes the change rate of the gradation or the chrominance value of video data in each area. A timing controller(8) arranges a converted data to be suitable for the drive of the display panel and supplies the converted data to a panel driver.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2012
