PURPOSE: A preparation method of RE-rich (U,RE)4o9 and UO3 powder mixture with the large difference of magnetic susceptibility and a separation method of (U,RE)4O9 and UO3 are provided to improve thermal conductivity by combusting UO2 nuclear fuel in a nuclear reactor. CONSTITUTION: A preparation method of RE-rich (U,RE)4O9 and UO3 powder mixture comprises the following steps. Nuclear fuel in which a neutron absorber rare earth materials is included is oxidized in air atmosphere of 400~600C, and powder is manufactured(S110). The powder is heated up to 1150~1400C(S120). The powder is restored in reducing atmosphere in 600~800C(S130). The compound powder in which particles are separated is manufactured by oxidizing the compound powder in the air atmosphere(S140). UO3 phase particles are manufactured by oxidizing U3O8 phase particles in the compound powder in ozone atmosphere.
