An apparatus and a method for a base station controlling a TTI variably in a WCDMA system providing an enhanced uplink dedicated transport channel service is provided to control a TTI variably and inform a mobile terminal of a TTI control result. A method for a base station controlling a TTI variably in a WCDMA system providing an enhanced uplink dedicated transport channel service comprises a step(604) of determining, a step(605) of transmitting(605) and a step(608) of transmitting of an uplink packet data. In the determining step, the base station determines a TTI reflecting a buffer state and channel state information. In the transmitting step, the base station transmits information of the determined TTI with information of a scheduling allocation to a user terminal. In the step of transmitting the uplink packet data, the user terminal transmits the uplink packet data according to the information of the determined TTI.
