PURPOSE: An automatic teller machine having function issuing a gift certificate and a method for issuing the gift certificate using the same are provided to improve the usage of automatic teller machine by issuing a gift certificate. CONSTITUTION: In an automatic teller machine having function issuing a gift certificate and a method for issuing the gift certificate using the same, a payment part(20) issues a paper medium to the outside of a case. A recognition part recognizes various customer information. A first cassette(30) receives the gift certificates. A second cassette(40) receives the paper mediums. A transport unit(50) transfers the gift certificate and the paper medium to the payment unit. A detection unit detects a bar code of the gift certificate. The controller controls the operation of the transport unit and the payment part.
