Electrochemical energy store useful as batteries or accumulators, comprises a positively charged electrode, a negatively charged electrode, an electrolyte, and a porous separator including a microporous foil and ion ducts
The electrochemical energy store comprises a positively charged electrode (20), a negatively charged electrode (30), an electrolyte, and a porous separator (40a, 40b), which separates the positively charged electrode and the negatively charged electrode from each other. The separator includes a microporous foil, which is produced using ion irradiation and further includes ion ducts extending at different angles from one another. The microporous foil is produced by etching from polyethylene terephthalate. The pores of the microporous foil are formed as substantially cylindrical ion ducts. The electrochemical energy store comprises a positively charged electrode (20), a negatively charged electrode (30), an electrolyte, and a porous separator (40a, 40b), which separates the positively charged electrode and the negatively charged electrode from each other. The separator includes a microporous foil, which is produced using ion irradiation and further includes ion ducts extending at different angles from one another. The microporous foil is produced by etching from polyethylene terephthalate. The pores of the microporous foil are formed as substantially cylindrical ion ducts, which have an opening on both sides of the separator. The separator has a thickness of 20-28 mu m and has a modification on the surface, which improves the wettability with fluids. The porosity of the separator is less than 15%. The positively charged electrode has a lithium-containing metal oxide and the negatively charged electrode is adapted to absorb and emit lithium ions. An independent claim is included for a separator for an electrochemical energy store.
