The device has pressure sensors (6,7) determining measuring variables of pressure in a hydro pneumatic pressure accumulator (1). A memory (3.1) is utilized for storing a wear variable function and for assigning a wear value to certain temporal course of the variables. A computing unit (3.2) is utilized for determining wear variable or a remaining service life of the accumulator under application of determined measuring values and a wear variable function. The computing unit is connected with a network connection (8) i.e. controlled area networkbus-connection. An independent claim is also included for a method for determining wear variable or remaining service life of the hydraulic accumulator.
