The method for the production of honeycomb body with two lateral surfaces (2), a circumference area (3) and a length (4) having a metallic honeycomb structure and a metallic mantle tube, comprises providing the metallic honeycomb structure from a partially structured metal foil, providing the metallic mantle tube, partially separating the mantle tube so that a slit extending itself partially over the length exists in the mantle tube, introducing the honeycomb structure into the mantle tube and soldering the honeycomb structure with the mantle tube. The method for the production of honeycomb body with two lateral surfaces (2), a circumference area (3) and a length (4) having a metallic honeycomb structure and a metallic mantle tube, comprises providing the metallic honeycomb structure from a partially structured metal foil, providing the metallic mantle tube, partially separating the mantle tube so that a slit extending itself partially over the length exists in the mantle tube, introducing the honeycomb structure into the mantle tube, soldering the honeycomb structure with the mantle tube and partially welding the slit with a joining connection. The honeycomb body has a diameter (23) of 150 mm and the mantle tube is pressed on the honeycomb structure. The mantle tube is made of austenitic steel materials and the honeycomb structure is made of ferritic steel material. An independent claim is included for a honeycomb body.
