The machine has a filling device (10) for filling a viscous product in a tube (T) and comprising a storage container (11) for the product. The filling device has a dosing pump (13) for conveying the product from the container to a dosing nozzle (12) via a product line (14) and formed as a rotary piston pump. A low-pressure source is arranged downstream to the pump in a low-pressure line, and conveys the product from the container to the pump. The low-pressure line is branched off between the pump and the nozzle by the product line. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a dosing pump.
