The device has a geothermal tube (1) attached or inserted into ground, and an inner wall covered in sections with coolant, where ammonia, propane, butane or carbon dioxide is used as the coolant. A pipe transports the coolant from a sump of the tube to a head of the tube. A liquid jet pump (4) is arranged in the sump of the tube for conveying the coolant from the sump to the head of the tube. A trickling film distributor (3) is provided in the tube and accumulates a coolant-trickling film flowing from the head of the tube towards the sump of the tube during evaporation of the coolant. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing heat energy or coldness.
