The method involves producing a digital model of a body (20) or a body region (22), and representing an actual condition. The actual condition is compared with a known normal condition. An orthesis (10) compressed or partially fixing the body or the body region is computed based on the computed difference between the actual condition and the normal condition. A production program (41) for the orthesis is created, and the computed data and/or the production program are transferred to knitting machines (50, 51). The orthesis is manufactured in the knitting machines. An independent claim is also included for an individually adapted orthesis.
