The flow meter (1) has a measuring sensor for acquisition of measurement values of flow of a measuring medium (4) through a measuring tube. A data processing unit computes an amount flow rate e.g. mass flow rate, of a component i.e. carbon dioxide, of another measuring medium (5) according to a given function specification from the measurement values and from other measurement values of a process variable. The data processing unit produces a signal depending on the determined amount flow rate of the component of the later measuring medium and stores the measurement values and the flow rates. An independent claim is also included for a method for determination of a mass flow rate of a component of a measuring medium.
