The method involves completely processing connecting-rod eyes (1, 1') to a pre-processing diameter (D1), and directly applying a stock material (3) e.g. metal alloy and lubricating varnish, on the pre-processing diameter. A sliding layer (4) is directly applied on the stock material, where the stock material has material thickness of 150 to 350 micrometers. The sliding layer is provided with a material thickness of 10 to 30 micrometers. An independent claim is also included for a connecting rod comprising connecting-rod eyes.
