The exhaust gas turbocharger (1) has a bearing housing (3) for supporting a rotor shaft (4) and a compressor housing for receiving a compressor wheel (6). A compressor housing-rear wall (7) is arranged between the bearing housing and the compressor housing, in order to disconnect an oil chamber (8) of the bearing housing from a wheel back gap (10) that is formed between the compressor housing-rear wall and a wheel back (9) of the compressor wheel. A clamping unit (12) has a counter-engagement section (13) and a head section (14). An independent claim is also included for a method for mounting an exhaust gas turbocharger.
