The method involves carrying out assembly calibration in such a manner that a mass flow meter (4) with a constant air flow in a driving spacer (13) actuated with calibrated gas i.e. nitrogen, stays under ambient pressure with series of different flow rates. A defined position of the regulating valves (5) e.g. magnetic valves, is assigned at the meter for forming calibration series. A desired dilution rates from odor air are adjusted during the adjacent olfactometry measurement depending on the valves assigned position from the calibration series, where the valves act as an actuator. An independent claim is also included for a device for performing a method for adjusting predetermined dilution rates for measuring odor by a dynamic olfactometry, comprising a driving spacer.
