The method involves determining an adjustable air filling depending on a requested drive moment according to a predetermined engine model. A manifold pressure corresponding the adjustable air filling is determined in an intake manifold between a throttle valve and the cylinders. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for determining a loss of momentum change during an operating mode change of an internal combustion engine of a motor system; and (2) a computer program product with a program code for executing a determining method.
