The system (50) has a transceiver (54) that is located within housing (28). A power source (56) is coupled to the housing and provided with an emitter (62) for emitting oscillatory electromagnetic radiation. A wireless sensor (52) is provided with an electromagnetic radiation receiver and an antenna (58). The oscillatory electromagnetic radiation receiver receives the emitted oscillatory electromagnetic radiation and induces a current in the sensor to power the sensor. The antenna transmits a signal to the transceiver indicative of condition sensed by wireless sensor. An independent claim is included for transmission.
