The method involves providing a semiconductor support including a prepared bonding surface, and providing a Sapphire supporting substrate. The semiconductor substrate and the supporting substrate are connected to produce a composite structure, and mass of the semiconductor support is detached from the composite structure by leaving a semiconducting developing substrate on the supporting substrate. A sequence of semiconductor material layers is arranged to form a solar cell on the semiconductor developing substrate.
