The sensor (1) has photosensors (10) i.e. photodiodes, permitting measurement of light intensity of received beams that oscillate based on rotation of a rotating disk (3). Polarization induced by a set formed of a fixed linear polarization assembly (6) and a rotating linear polarization assembly (7) is different for each light beam. A calculation unit calculates an instantaneous value of an absolute angular position of a rotating part (2) from the measurements of the photosensors and a reading assembly (31) of an absolute optical angular encoder, without ambiguity.
