The method involves forcibly engaging a chosen part of a piece (P1) on another piece (P2) provided between predefined initial and final reference positions. The final force applied to the former piece is determined. The determined final force is compared with a predefined final reference force, so as to determine whether the chosen part of the former piece is correctly engaged on the latter piece, where the engagement of the chosen part of the former piece on the latter piece is correct when difference between the determined final force and predefined final force is lower than a preset value. The pieces are made of material selected among metal, synthetic material and plastic material. An independent claim is also included for an apparatus for assembling a piece on another piece by forcible engagement comprising mechanical units.
