The method involves identifying an interest volume (40) e.g. sphere or ellipsoid incorporating interest zone selected by surgeon, in a total representation of an organ of patient. A sequence of images of the interest volume is acquired (70) by narrowing the beam emitted by a source of an imaging apparatus to the identified interest volume. A three-dimensional image of the interest volume is reconstructed (80) from the acquired sequence of images and from the total representation. The view of the three-dimensional image is displayed (90) on a screen of an interface unit of the apparatus. An independent claim is also included for an imaging apparatus comprising a source and a detector.
