The invention relates to a method for detecting cocaine, crack or heroin in a suspect sample in the form of a powder, said process comprising the steps of: i) separation by thin layer chromatography, cocaine, crack, or heroin of other products possibly present in said suspect sample; and ii) colorimetrically revealing the thin layer obtained in step i) by means of an aqueous solution comprising cobalt thiocyanate and glycerol, whereby the cocaine, crack, or heroin possibly present in said sample suspect, are detected as a blue spot.
