The element (4) has a connection unit for connecting the element to a structure of a vehicle. The connection unit forms a pivot connection around an axis perpendicular to longitudinal direction of end-fittings (3, 7) of sheaths of control cables (1, 5). Two coaxial dog-pilot points are maintained by the structure of the vehicle so as to form the pivot connection between the element and the structure. A plate closes an opening of a box (8) such as gearbox control box, of the structure in a sealed manner. Two arched sealing walls prolong edges of the plate. An independent claim is also included for a cable-operated control device of a motor vehicle, comprising blocking units.
