Tracking application sharing amongst mobile computing devices

A system for tracking application sharing comprises a processor configured to receive a dataset representing a successful sharing of an application from a sharer to a receiver, the dataset indicating the sharer, the receiver and the shared application. The received dataset is inserted into a first database linking the sharer with the receiver and into a second database linking the sharer with the shared application. At least part of the first or second database is displayed and a tree of sharer-receiver pairs showing descendant receivers or ancestor sharers may be displayed. Also disclosed are arrangements for synchronizing applications between devices whereby the applications may be shared via local wireless or wired links or via an application distribution server though use of an application seed.
