PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce overhead for collecting snap shots.SOLUTION: Upon receiving a request to collect snap shots focused on a group A, a meta server 110 identifies data volumes 121-1 and 121-2 which store a group of files to which a piece of attribute information of the group-A is preset while referring to a meta data 101. The meta server 110 outputs a snap shot collection instruction to data servers 120-1 and 120-2. Each of the data servers 120-1 and 120-2 which has received the collect instruction performs a still-processing on the file group to which the attribute information of the group-A is preset, and then generates snap shots 122-1 and 122-2 from all files. The meta server 110 also performs the still-processing on the file group to which the attribute information of the group-A is preset in the meta data 101, and then generates snap shots 112 by controlling a meta volume 111.
