PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a method for selecting microorganisms recognizing a compound having a guaiacol skeleton such as ferulic acid existing in animal or plant living bodies and/or a compound having a 4-methoxyphenol skeleton, and promoting their growth; and a composition including a guaiacol skeleton and/or a compound having a 4-methoxyphenol skeleton having growth-promoting action of a probiotic lactic acid bacterium.;SOLUTION: This invention is achieved by eagerly developing the method for selecting microorganisms recognizing a compound having a guaiacol skeleton and/or a compound having 4-methoxyphenol skeleton and promoting their growth. Thereby, the problem is solved by finding out microorganisms recognizing the compound having a guaiacol skeleton such as ferulic acid and/or compounds having a 4-methoxyphenol skeleton, and promoting their growth.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
