PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate the state of charge (SOC) of an olivine based lithium ion battery with high accuracy.SOLUTION: A method for estimating the electricity storage amount of an olivine based lithium ion battery comprises a charge resistance calculation step for calculating the charge resistance of the lithium ion battery when it is charged, a discharge resistance calculation step for calculating the discharge resistance of the lithium ion battery when it is discharged, a resistance ratio calculation step for calculating a resistance ratio of the charge resistance calculated in the charge resistance calculation step to the discharge resistance calculated in the discharge resistance calculation step, and an electricity storage amount estimation step in which, based on correlation information that an electricity storage amount of the lithium ion battery increases as does a resistance ratio derived by dividing the charge resistance by the discharge resistance, the electricity storage amount is estimated from the resistance ratio calculated in the resistance ratio calculation step.
