PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system or the like capable of discriminating the forgery of paper money or the like in a short period of time. PSOLUTION: A forgery discrimination apparatus transmits a serial number applied to a paper money to a server (step 203), and receives a decryption key from the server (step 204). Bar code information acquired from the paper money is decrypted thereafter using the decryption key to acquire first image data and positional information indicating a position at which the first image data are acquired (step 205). Image data at a position specified by the positional information acquired in the step 205 are then acquired from image data acquired by reading, the image data are encrypted (step 206), and second image data are acquired (step 207).
