PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for calculating a principal component using an analyzer dealing with data comprising many measurement items.SOLUTION: There is disclosed a method for calculating a principal component from data matrix using an analyzer. The analyzer conducts scaling by dividing the principal component by the square root of the number of samples used for calculation of the principal component or the number of measurement items. The analyzer also selects a sample in which the expression level has changed at a predetermined threshold value from the scaled principal component. It is possible herewith to deal with data in which the measurement items are different in part and the number thereof is large.
