PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an artificial soil constituting base material of a thin layer, having light weight, excellent in workability and applicability in assembling, disassembling, transporting, and the like, having high mechanical strengths, without being broken even when a heavy load is applied thereto, excellent in air permeability, water draining properties, heat insulating properties, or the like, capable of vigorously raising plants by being buried in the ground, and capable of vigorously raising the plants by being installed on a rooftop and a veranda of a building, to provide a plant raising artificial soil structure by using the base material, to provide a structure, and to provide a building rooftop greening structure suitable for cultivating the plants, such as a lawn, on the rooftop and the veranda of the building, by being installed on the rooftop of the building. PSOLUTION: The artificial soil constituting base material comprises a hollow platelike material which is formed by laminating a front thin plate into which many open holes are bored with a back thin plate through many ribs.
