The present invention provides a tablet inspection apparatus and method for ensuring that the drilled tablets are free from error. The tablet inspection apparatus comprises a real time laser fire (RTLF) sensor that: senses the fractional reflection of the laser power from the drilled tablet; generates the first voltage signal from the sensed laser power of the tablet; subsequently amplifies the first voltage signal to generate a second voltage signal; compare the second voltage signal with the pre-set threshold level of the signal and rejects the tablet if the second voltage signal is less than the pre-set threshold level of the signal. The invention enables inspection apparatus to inspect the drilled tablet production with low cost, high speed and more accuracy. Also, the invention enables the tablet drilling inspection apparatus with the ability to count the production of the drilled tablets automatically.
