MAIZE CULTIVATION TECHNOLOGY IN A SYSTEM WITH 'PERMANENT VEGETABLE COVER'

The invention relates to a process for cultivating maize, in the agricultural areas wherein there are registered annual precipitations in an amount of 500-650 mm. According to the invention, the process consists in turning over the superficial layer of soil, after harvesting a previous crop of straw cereals, then performing a tillage, preparing the germinative bed on a single passage, sowing an intermediary plant made at a double seed rate, freezing the intermediary crop during winter and finally, in the spring, sowing the maize in the dead vegetable cover which remains on the soil until it is harvested.
