A method of reducing sensitivity to a family of antibiotics of beta-lactam inhibition assay of microbial growth for the presence of microbial inhibitors in a sample comprising: a) preparing a microbial culture present growth inhibition when is contacted with a beta-lactam antibiotic; b) adding a binding protein beta-lactam cultivation; c) adding the sample to the culture; d) growing the crop; e) quantifying culture growth, where the lack of culture growth reflects the presence of an inhibitor of microbial growth and wherein the sensitivity of the assay to the family of beta-lactams is reduced by adding binding protein betalactam.
