New enzyme for the isoprenoid biosynthesis.; We have found a new enzyme with 1-deoxy-D-xylulose 5-phosphate reductoisomerase catalyzes the reaction to produce 2- C -methyl-D-erythritol 4-phosphate from 1-deoxy-D-xylulose 5- phosphate having the amino acid sequence SEQ ID NO: 41. the enzyme is useful in the synthesis of isoprenoids, particularly in the synthesis of 2- C -methyl-D-erythritol 4-phosphate.
