PURPOSE: A welding method and a filler wire for welding are provided to enhance the melting efficiency of weld metal since the arc-side specific surface area of a filler wire or a strip, where the surface shapes of an arc side and the opposite side are asymmetrical, exceeds the 1/2 of the entire specific surface area.;CONSTITUTION: In a filler wire for welding, a filler wire(24) or a strip has the surface shapes of an arc side and the opposite side, which are asymmetrical. The arc-side specific surface area of the filler wire or the strip exceeds the 1/2 of the entire specific surface area. The height of the filler wire or the strip is low compared to its width. In a filler wire or a strip forming a bead by melting, 2~10 wires or strips with a cross sectional area of over 0.1mm^2 are connected side by side.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2012
