PURPOSE: A composition containing Platycodon grandiflorum A. DC. saponin fraction and platycodin of high content is provided to suppress adipocyte differentiation and to prevent and treat adipose metabolism. CONSTITUTION: A novel Platycodon grandiflorum A. DC. saponin fraction with enhanced drug efficiency contains 50.0-98.0(w/w)% of platycodon D, 0-35.0(w/w)% of platycodon E and 3.0-20.0(w/w)% of platycodon D3. A method for preparing Platycodon grandiflorum A. DC. saponin fraction comprises: a step of isolating Platycodon grandiflorum A. DC. extract by reverse phase resin, polystyrenes or ion exchange resin column to obtain Platycodon grandiflorum A. DC. saponin fraction; and a step of bio-conversing the fraction by enzyme. A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating lipid metabolic disease contains Platycodon grandiflorum A. DC. saponin fraction or saponin compound as an active ingredient.
