PURPOSE: A purging apparatus and method for a tundish upper nozzle are provided to prevent pinholes and the reoxidization of molten steel, thereby improving the quality of casted products.;CONSTITUTION: A purging apparatus for a tundish upper nozzle comprises an argon supply line, a helium supply line, and a control valve unit. The argon supply line supplies argon to an upper nozzle for purging in case of the normal casting speed(V2). The helium supply line supplies helium to the upper nozzle for purging at an abnormal casting speed(V1) lower than the normal casting speed. The control valve unit is installed in the argon supply line and the helium supply line in order to control the amount of argon and helium supplied to the upper nozzle according to casting speed.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2012
