PURPOSE: A distance estimation method based on sequential rearrangement of received signal strength in a wireless sensor network is actively acquire a PLE(Path Loss Exponent) which can be varied by time. CONSTITUTION: An anchor node calculates unit area about a member node and a mapping distance(106,107). The anchor node calculates a PLE about each member node(108). The anchor node establishes the mean value of the PLE as the common PLE value. The anchor node transmits the common PLE value to the member node(109). The member node measures the distance to the anchor node through the common PLE and RSS(Received Signal Strength) information(110).
