PURPOSE: A method for sensing a high voltage for a power supply controller and a method for forming a high voltage sensing element are provided to reduce system costs by forming a device on a semiconductor chip. CONSTITUTION: A device(10) includes a high voltage sensing element(11). The high voltage sensing element forms a sensing signal on a sensing output(16). The device provides a first output current of a current output(24). The high voltage sensing element includes a JFET transistor(18) and a metal oxide semiconductor transistor(19). The device includes a bias resistor(21) which provides a bias current to a metal oxide semiconductor transistor gate.
