PURPOSE: An apparatus for separating radioactive carbon and a method for separating the radioactive carbon using the same are provided to eliminate radioactive carbon and radioactive iodine impurities from external air by including a radioactive carbon gas collector and an iodine absorbing column. CONSTITUTION: In an apparatus for separating radioactive carbon, a radioactive carbon gas generator(120) and a liquid absorbent(180) is serially installed from the inlet of the apparatus. A radioactive gas collector(100) is arranged at the front side of the radioactive carbon gas generator. The apparatus for separating radioactive carbon includes an iodine absorbing column(140) between the radioactive carbon gas generator and the liquid absorbent. A method for separating the radioactive carbon using the apparatus includes the following: analyzing specimens are introduced into the radioactive carbon gas generator; radioactive carbon gas is generated through chemical oxidization or high temperature oxidization; and the generated gas is moved to the liquid absorbent to be collected.
