The chain (14) has holding devices (18) e.g. heating bolts, arranged at chain links (16) for an article i.e. preform, or a container. The holding devices are defined at distances with each other, where the distances between the holding devices are adjusted. A mechanical adjusting unit e.g. control cam (20), changes the distances between the holding devices, which are arranged between the chain links. The mechanical adjusting unit comprises a distancing element, and the heating bolts comprise two movable brackets, which consist of lower and upper bracket parts. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a heating section for heating preforms for processing in an orientation blow device (2) a method for changing partition of a conveyor chain (3) a method for adjusting distances of holding units for an article to a conveyor chain.
