The appliance (20) e.g. sterilizer, has an inner chamber (21) locked by household appliance doors (30, 40) that include a front plate. A gripping region for opening the doors is provided on a side of the front plate in a direction of the inner chamber. Non-gripping-, guiding-, or opening elements open the door, and are provided on an outer region of the front plate in a closed condition. A gripping insert is arranged in such a manner that a finger of a user grips a part of the front plate while contacting the gripping insert for opening the door.
